Does anyone know of a book confirming this?

Does anyone know a book that confirms this? I mean, it's quite obvious that Arthur Freed totally copied the melody of Cole Porter's "Be a Clown" that Judy Garland sang in The Pirate and used it for "Make em Laugh" that Donald O'Connor sang in Singin' in the Rain. When Irving Berlin heard the song, he was pissed off and asked Arthur Freed what did he think he was doing? And Arthur Freed got uppity and blew him off or something. But Cole Porter wasn't pissed at all. I mean, every place you see the lyrics for "Make em Laugh", Cole Porter is never credited for the melody.

Does anyone know of any books that mentions this?
